Debruit is a musical explorer who imagines alternate worlds and the way they would sound. He plays with time and disparate sounds, moulding static dimensions and geographical borders into new asymmetrical audio-forms. His music is electronic but with a human feel; it explores complementary culture clashes, combining elements that have never existed together before.Having graduated from the Red Bull Music Academy in 2008 and showcasing the following year at Sonar, the demand for Debruit blew up internationally, far from his early settings in North West France. His surprising and intriguing live electronic sets have secured him continued support from the likes of DJ Magazine, Dazed and XLR8R. He continually pushes the boundaries with new technique and analogue vibes causing West Coast originator Kutmah to enquire: “how’d you get your shit so clean and loud?”His style is a no hold barred assault through dark Congolese sound systems, downtown L.A. block parties gone wrong, haze filled Kingston recording studios and freaky Tunisian backstreet souks; all powered by a fat hip hop engine, resulting in what can only be described as the heaviest wonky fusions you will hear all year.To date he has released three albums and six EPS including the now classic electro-afrobeat single “Nigeria What” from the “Spatio Temporel” EP, with dancers still choreographing their own videos to across the globe. Debruit has worked on projects with Jamie Woon, Om’Mas Keith, Alsarah, and The Bow.
