Imagine a weekend where every few minutes you are subjected to a truly special and magical moment, big or small. Imagine a place where people look at you and smile and stop and talk to you, and everyone is imbued with a sense that they are all sharing something very very beautiful. Imagine dancing before a stage with 200 people in the sunshine, cold organic lager in hand, to the funkiest 12 piece band, with kids running around and playing together. Imagine standing in a medieval village at 3am at a bar, drinking mead, next to a bloke belting out the tunes on his fiddle & singing a maudlin ballad, whilst talking to a lovely woman about horses and the fact that she is unable to enter heathrow because of her record for "agitating" the authorities. Imagine sitting at your camp fire at 5am, watching the sun come up, before walking up to Granny's Tea Garden to be served a mug of sweet tea and meeting the most stunningly beautiful woman who makes everyone laugh with her happiness. Imagine lying on the ground and watching a dozen golden creatures on stilts with goggled eyes peer down at you from on high. Imagine looking across from your tent at night and seeing many huge and coloured orbs twinkling against the night sky. Imagine watching a little boy called Toby dressed as a tiger win the fancy dress award at the talent show. Imagine...

2004 was my first year at shambala and ill definately be going back. this festival had a lovely feeling of a community because it is small and rather intimate. i met some amazingly funny random people had a good time. unfortunately we came home one less as one of our friends was abducted by the children of the maze.

For those of you who know, I've seen them all. But this was The One. to the organisers, sorry to have missed you to congratulate on your inspiring vision and co-ordination, you've outdone yourselves year on year, but 2004 was something else. WOW. You never cease to amaze (or to bring mass joy to a quiet field and all those unexpecting wanderers on it). John and Dan max respec, as to all contributers - workers, helpers, musicians, DJs, VJs, all tents, stalls, entertainers, decorators and, of course, goers. Wonderful and THANK YOU.

My God what an experience! This was fabulous! The first Shambala for me but certainly not the last! Absolutely mind-blowing.
Overheard a kid say to another: "Everyone here is a hippy, and all hippies don't like fighting." Sweet...

our first shambala and 50+ of our friends came with us. All had a brilliant time, now telling their friends ... you do the sums... sorry for bloating the happy shambala family, but we'll be back, and we'll do our best to keep the secret. Small is beautiful.

Wasn’t that the best thing ever?! It was like going to a magic fantasy land for three days, surrounded by trees, funky lights and ridiculously nice people. Let’s all buy it, make it into a commune, and live there forever! Thanks to everyone involved with organizing and supporting the event.

My first time at Shambala last weekend. Didn't realise people could still live like that without loads of argee bargee, and corporations ruining things! Saw, the idea about collectively buying land for permanent use in 'our ethos' and lovin' it. Only 17, not looking forward to the idea of spending the rest of my life working for global capitalism. Am very much more willing to put time and effort into living alternatively. Naive idea, I know but, I'm only 17 and haven't realised any reason why not yet. Anyone interested in helping me. Leave details on this website. Lots of love+ respect. Rachel E (Another Sheffielder)
