Alkanna Greaca is a new vocal trio blending raw folk traditions from the Balkans, Mediterranean, and Black Sea with free improvisation and expansive soundscapes. Formed by Dunja Botic, Alexandra Achillea, and Irini Arabatzi, the trio blends influences from folk, jazz, classical, and experimental music to create a sound that is both deeply rooted in their cultural heritage and fearlessly forward-thinking.
Irini’s voice, shaped by her Greek roots, jazz and South American influences, has taken her to international stages. Dunja, a Serbian-Greek singer/actress, moves seamlessly between theatre and music, drawing inspiration from Maqam and jazz. Alexandra’s background in classical, folk, and experimental music has carried her from opera houses to underground scenes. Together, they create a sound that is earthy, timeless, and steeped in tradition—stripped bare, transformed, and reborn through improvisation.
Alkanna Graeca’s debut EP will be released this autumn, marking the beginning of an exciting journey of sonic exploration and cultural celebration.
