Makam Salam is a London-based Pan-Middle Eastern collective creating music across borders. The ensemble unites Palestinian, Israeli, Iranian, Lebanese, Turkish, Kurdish, Tunisian, Moroccan, and Jewish diaspora artists who bring ancient and folk songs from their own traditions, fuse them together, and give them a contemporary jazzy twist. <\/p>\n

Founded in 2024, the project grew from spontaneous jam sessions between Middle Eastern and jazz musicians into an ongoing practice and wider community. Each member draws from their own heritage, and the collective blends these sources into something new, rooted in where we all come from but shaped by our contemporary lives, our sound, and a shared vision for a better future.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
