Formed in 2023 by Adam Brennan and Sophie Coppin during a period of isolation, the project has evolved from a curious experiment into a fully fledged, genre-dodging collective. Their sound &#8211; once jokingly labeled \u201cwonk rock,\u201d \u201cGameboy thrash,\u201d and \u201cEgyptian wedding music\u201d &#8211; has now become its own unmistakable language.<\/p>\n<p>Cutting their teeth at The Windmill &#8211; a rite of passage for South London\u2019s most adventurous acts, Y quickly became known for their explosive live sets, with their chaotic anthem \u201cWhy\u201d serving as both a calling card and a communal release. A run of support slots with Fat Dog, Opus Kink &amp; KEG, and festival appearances throughout 2025 has cemented Y as not just a band to watch, but a band impossible to ignore.<\/p>\n<p>Y embody the joy of contradiction: precise yet messy, playful yet uncompromising, untrained yet virtuosic.
