This month, we’re celebrating PHANTOM THURSDAYS – a tribute to our beloved poetry and spoken word venue, The Phantom Laundry.

At 6pm every Thursday, we’ll be bringing you live poetry and spoken word from artists who have wowed the crowds at our beloved spoken word/poetry venue, The Phantom Laundry over the years.

The incredible Maria Ferguson kicked things off for us on Thursday 30th April, reading poetry from her debut collection Alright, Girl?’. If you missed it, you can watch it back on Facebook, here.

Stephen will be taking over our Facebook and Instagram pages from 6pm on Thursday 7th May. As anyone that caught Stephen’s performance in The Phantom Laundry last year will attest, this is not one to be missed!

Stephen was born in Blackburn, Lancashire. In 1996, aged 16, he experienced a life changing accident whilst sledging in the snow and is now paralysed from below the waist. Stephen writes extensively but not exclusively about life as a wheelchair user. When not writing and performing poetry, Stephen spends his days working for the NHS.

In March 2019 Stephen’s first poetry collection, Only Air, was published by Burning Eye Books. His poems have been anthologised by Verve Poetry Press, Hachette Children’s Group, The Poetry Business and Squares & Rebels. Check out his website here.

See y’all on Thursday at 6pm! x
