Can rewilding and food production work together?

This workshop explores practical ways to combine wild food harvesting with rewilding projects, wildlife gardens, and biodiverse growing spaces. Drawing on hands-on experience from projects in Yorkshire, we’ll look at how humans can work alongside natural systems to create landscapes that support both ecological restoration and sustainable food production.

We’ll cover approaches to incorporating edible and medicinal plants into rewilded environments, encouraging biodiversity while also creating resilient sources of food and forage.

Topics may include:

Designing spaces that balance wildness and productivity
Useful edible and medicinal species for rewilding projects
Encouraging biodiversity through planting choices
Working with natural systems rather than controlling them
Wild harvesting approaches and considerations

This session is ideal for growers, gardeners, foragers, and anyone interested in creating richer relationships between people, food, and the living landscapes around them.
