The first CD I owned, and played to death, aged 10, was Prodigy’s Music for the Jilted Generation. Good start. I could have had a bright raving career ahead of me, but it didn’t happen. It’s been lacklustre. I won’t go into that now, story for another time.
These days, I don’t leave the house much apart from to do the school run or buy oat milk from the Coop. But something happened not so long ago. I knew I needed more joy in my life, hello middle age. I noticed music in a new way. I amassed a collection of headphones for all situations, and now occasionally hear myself saying ‘sick’ out loud while alone in a small room, or playing music to 30 friends at a birthday party…
Warm, euphoric, glitchy and I do love drums. Something like house, garage, bassline, techno. Not peak time stuff – not first thing on a Thursday night. But great tunes. Come with your start-of-festival anxiety and leave feeling warm and ready.
