There’s something in the water over in Wales. They are bringing some serious funk back into the tech house arena with the Headfunkt record label and an associated family of DJs who range from groundbreaking pioneers to the most exciting new artists on the block.

We have three representatives with us including label boss Paul Lyons, who has been at the forefront of dance music in Wales for 40 years, from warehouses to free parties to iconic club nights, record shops and record labels plus his own productions alongside House music legends such as DJ Spen. He also founded Sound Progression, an Ed Sheeran backed youth music charity helping young musicians with free studio time, production courses and artist development.

We also have Disco Kaptin, a firm festival favourite who has hosted shows on BBC Radio 1 and Radio Wales and had various mixes across those stations and BBC 1Xtra. He’s had various aliases and projects from Chrome Kids and Big Swing Sound to AAA Badboy and the Super Soca Show. But nowadays all he wants to play is Disco and House, so who are we to stop him.

Joining them is Grandma Funk, who has been making a name for herself at numerous underground nights across Wales, including a residency at It’s A Disco Thing and Bump N Hustle. With a killer selection of tunes and the energy to match she’s definitely a rising artist to keep an eye on.
