Shambala, let’s celebrate the Menarche!
Come and join us for an artistic reflection on this important rite of passage through collaging, writing and journaling. This workshop offers an inclusive and supportive space for young people who have recently experienced their first period and want to reflect on what this means for them in a creative way.
You have the option of making your very own mood board or collage about the meaning of the menarche for you or explore ways of writing about it, aided with creative writing prompts from the wild writing toolkit.
We will have collaging material, paper, glue and pens available, but feel free to bring your own materials too. The workshop will start with a short exploration of the menarche as a rite of passage followed by trying out a few short prompts to inspire your creativity. T
he rest of the session will be dedicated to making your own collage, mood board or poem/piece of writing.
This session is open to every young person who has experienced their first period (or is still awaiting it) on their own as well as mother/daughter and parent/young person duos who want to share this experience.
Trans and non-binary people with lived experience of periods are highly welcome no matter your gender identity or expression.
