THIS IS THE POETRY JAM, THAT GOD DAMN POETRY JAM
Coming from London’s cultural borough of Camden, THAT GOD DAMN POETRY JAM brings the hypest night in town! A safe space where all are welcome and everyone gets a chance to speak. Hosted by Kid Anansi, THAT GOD DAMN POETRY JAM will feature guest poets Becksy Becks and Jah-Mir Early.
Kid Anansi
The poetic equivalent of finding out that the drinks machine in your local McDonalds has replaced its Pepsi button with spiced rum. Kid Anansi is confusing, frightening, delicious with ginger ale and lemon, and unhealthy in large doses. His poetry will have you laughing, crying, biting your knuckles in second-hand embarrassment, or all three, mixing history and melancholy with slapstick humour and inimitable energy. A regular face on the BAFTA Award winning first season of Life & Rhymes, and host of poetry nights around London.
Becksy Becks
Becksy Becks is a “seemingly”” functional Poet navigating the beautiful chaos of adulthood. This Birmingham raised, South Sudanese, Poet creates vivid visual storytelling through words delivered in her signature conversational style. Her work sits on the fine line between humour and the hard truths your
therapist warned you about. To best describe Becksy Becks is to call her a Poet on Purpose, Dancer by Daydream and Awesome by Everything else.
Jah-Mir Early
He is older than he looks, improves poetry by using his dyslexia, ADHD and empathy to reach his audiences, whether with a live Band or just alone with the people. He has been an invited guest artist for the BBC Edinburgh Fringe Slam. Jah-Mir Early also debuted his all-improv poetry show #BeSpoken at the Edinburgh Fringe… and came away mostly sane.
"That creative hurricane and me good friend, Kid Anansi!"
