Percussion-centred global music traveller Somatic returns to Shambala with a vibrant selection of left-field techno, breaks, house and dembow.

Raised on festivals from six months old and hauling sound systems into venues by 15, he’s been woven into late-night dance culture for as long as he can remember.

Originally trained as a percussionist, Somatic moves with instinctive rhythm and deep, rolling basslines. His sets are joyful hybrids – 808s tangled with Middle Eastern percussion, electro dissolving into Classical Indian raag – an effortless merging of sounds from everywhere, with no genre borders in sight.

His musical wanderings have taken him to Glastonbury, Boomtown and dancefloors across Bangalore and Mumbai. Away from the decks he works as one of Mr Scruff’s sound engineers, is part of the Daytimers collective, and hosts a monthly Subtle Radio show. He’s also co-creator (with his mum!) of the much-loved, sell-out Dance Against Racism events in Exeter.
