WaterAid is an international non-profit with one goal: to change the world through water. We all need clean water and a toilet that is safe and private. But right now, almost one in ten people in the world don’t have clean water close to home. And 1.5 billion (almost one in five) don’t have a decent toilet of their own. WaterAid is determined to change this.
They work alongside communities worldwide building stronger systems to deliver clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene for millions. For health, for life, forever. Because with a reliable supply of clean water, communities facing droughts and floods are better prepared for our changing climate, whatever the future holds.
WaterAid have partnered with Shambala since 2018, bringing their legendary Good Loos to the festival. These volunteer-run compost loos (including an accessible toilet) are maintained and kept spotlessly clean by a friendly team, making them some of the best loos on site. There is a suggested donation to use the loos, with all proceeds supporting WaterAid’s work around the world. Good for people, good for the planet and good for your festival experience too.
While you’re there, why not grab a temporary tattoo or create your own festival pin-badge? You can also sign their Time To Deliver petition and join a global movement calling for world leaders to fund clean water in every health centre for safer maternity care.
Change starts with water.
