Way back in 2015, the catastrophic earthquake that hit Nepal led to us launching our ‘Flags For Nepal’ crowdfunder, where we invited our community to sponsor the strings of prayer flags on our main stage, with all funds raised going to support the recovery efforts, via Help Rural Nepal.
10 years later, our ‘Flags For…’ campaigns have become an annual tradition, with a different charity spotlighted each year.
This Summer, as we were all on site and getting ready to open our gates, we received the devastating news from Nepal, of catastrophic flash flooding that took the lives of over 1,000 people, with thousands more still missing.
We wanted to do something to help, and to give our audience an opportunity to show their support too. We rallied the troops and set up shop to sell strings of prayer flags, from our merch stalls, public info tent and out of the music office backstage.
With your help, the sales of these flags raised nearly £2,000, all of which has been donated to Help Rural Nepal, who are working with Nepali NGO ‘Pathe Nepal’ to use funds to distribute appropriate aid, to assist with the recovery and rebuilding efforts.
We’d like to thank you to every single one of you who got involved. Our thoughts remain with the communities in Nepal who have had their lives so devastated by the impacts of climate change.
With love,
Sham HQ x
