Contact Improvisation is an improvised dance form based on the physical dialogue between two or more moving bodies. Dancers maintain a moving point of contact – sharing weight, following momentum, and responding spontaneously to each other’s movement. Creating an ongoing physical conversation without predetermined steps.
In this one-hour introduction, Rhiannon and Nick will guide you through some basic contact improvisation techniques, using solo, partner, and group exercises, and will conclude with an open jam where participants can experiment with what they’ve learned in a free-flowing, unstructured space with music.
No dance experience necessary – just bring your curiosity and willingness to explore. We welcome all bodies, ages, and experience levels. Wear comfortable clothes you can move in.
