Penguin Cafe was founded in 2009 by Arthur Jeffes, bringing together a talented and disparate group of musicians with the dream of continuing and serving as an homage to the musical legacy of world-renowned Penguin Cafe Orchestra, led by his late father Simon Jeffes.

Arthur, a talented composer in his own right, quickly began to create new and unique genre-defying music, blending classical instruments like violins and cellos with unexpected elements like ukuleles and melodicas, the spellbinding philosophy of the Penguin Cafe always in his mind.

Penguin Cafe continue to enchant audiences with their unique blend of avant-pop and acoustic electronica bringing a fresh perspective to the timeless pieces developed by Simon Jeffes with Penguin Cafe Orchestra. Their ever-evolving sound is an uncategorisable blend of folk, jazz, pop and chamber music influences layered amongst experimental electronic sounds, always with a heartwarming sense of play.

"This is music written in the language of excitement and adventure, all sawing strings, insistent rhythms, and curious mallets."
