The ethos of Shambala Festival is embodied by the story of The Children’s Fire:
“No law, no decision, nothing of any kind will be agreed by this council that will harm the children, seven generations to come”
By ‘children’, it means all living young; human, animal, plant. We have honoured our commitment to this principle by naming the central fire ‘The Children’s Fire’.
Imagine, if no individual, company, council or government made any decision that would negatively affect any children for seven generations to come – what a different place the world could be.
The fire is lit ceremonially, when the festival opens, with ashes that were originally given to us from a sacred fire, and have been placed into the fire at every Shambala since…
The choices we make on how to live our lives, how to source food and items, how to travel and convene have a ripple effect onwards through time.
Each year, we invite you to sit for a moment by the fire over the festival weekend, have a ponder, and take the idea back into your life in some way.
