The moment you’ve all been waiting for has finally arrived – it’s time to cast your 2026 Carnival theme vote!

This year, it’s a showdown between two of our very favouritest things in life. Whichever comes out on top, we have no doubt you’ll do us proud as ever with your glorious costume creations.

You have until midnight on Monday 19 January to vote and the winning theme will be announced shortly after. Make sure you peruse our Pinterest boards before casting your votes to get your creative juices flowing.

Theme 1: Lyrical Genius

Hop in a big yellow taxi, or on the midnight train, we’re off to never never land! Welcome to the jungle, where all the young dudes and dancing queens laugh in the purple rain. Overhead, a bat out of hell flies, just like the white wing dove, past 99 red balloons. Are you the egg man? Are you the walrus? Time to coo-coo-ga-choose!

Theme 2: Grub’s Up!

*Yes, we’ve come back for another helping of this theme but it’d be such a feast for the eyes – if it doesn’t take the cake this year, we’ll put it in the compost for good*

Cauliflowers fluffy, cabbages green! Peas in a pod or a lone baked bean. A banging proper sunday roast, sushi rolls or cheese on toast. A wig made of instant noodles! A skirt made of apple strudels! A stack of pancakes, tall as the sky – hot dogs, fruit salad and warm pumpkin pie!
