Malaika Kegode and Jakabol have been performing together since 2018. Together, they have performed at music and theatre venues alike, bringing a unique, exciting blend of poetry and music to diverse audiences. Malaika is an award-winning writer and performer based in Bristol. Her work is focused on uplifting and celebrating the voiceless, overlooked and misunderstood.
She has performed around the UK at several celebrated venues, festivals and literary events, including The 100 Club, WOMAD and Southbank Centre, and has worked with a wide range of organisations as a writer, teacher and performer. The Guardian have described Jakabol as “Bucolic one moment, psychotic the next.” The Bristol based experimental outfit carve their own path through a kaleidoscopic, genre-bending, musical world and are as at home in the landscapes of pastoral folk as they are in the maelstrom of heavily distorted metal and psych rock freak-outs.
