Shoal and The Seabird (Jack Durtnall and Ben Cross) met at the Totnes Cinema jam on a Sunday morning in late winter and went on to create rippling, intricate piano textures and soaring soprano saxophone tones. Their music weaves together instrumental pieces alongside enchanting folk song re-workings and finely wrought, harmony-rich originals. Expansive, heartful, tender, soaring, grounded, uplifting are just some of ways to describe Shoal and The Seabird.
