Touretteshero Presents: The Radical Reading Group

Join Touretteshero’s Knowledge for Change crew for a reading group with a radical twist. We’ll be taking a well-known academic text – ‘Understanding the Social Model of Disability: Past, Present and Future’, by Colin Barnes – and making it available in different accessible formats including audio, British Sign Language and Easy Read.

We’ll go through the paper together, discuss the ideas and reflect on how it relates to disability culture, justice and our day-to-day experiences as deaf, disabled, neurodivergent and chronically ill people.

Knowledge for Change is a research programme supporting and connecting disabled thinkers, developing anti-ableist research tools and broadening who gets to create and access knowledge.
