Dominie Hooper is a songwriter, singer and multi-instrumentalist hailing from Dartmoor in Devon – the largest and wildest expanse of open land in southern England. Conjuring an otherworld of doomy crunching guitar, gouging cello and ritualistic collective voice, the DIY musician is a singular force — her voice is strikingly powerful, her songwriting rugged and dramatic, all propelled by her cello and a blistering live band. Think the brooding swagger of I Want To See The Bright Lights Tonight, the raw intensity of Magnolia Electric Company and the harrowing energy of PJ Harvey & John Parish.
In 2024, Dominie played two UK headline tours and a support tour for This Is The Kit, as well as festivals including Deer Shed, Moseley Folk and The Wake (from the founders of Green Man). With support from Help Musicians and PRSF and spins on BBC 6Music, BBC Introducing, BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio Scotland as well as Ireland’s RTÉ 2 already all under her belt, 2025 promises to be a huge year for this exciting new talent.
