GBRL PRKFV Ensemble

Crossing the road between Classical and Electronic music, the GBRL PRKV Ensemble performs genre-defying music that responds to urban life. Think lyrical violins with dark analogue basses, modern melodies with processed pianos, angular strings with irregular funkified beats.

After its formation in 2024, the ensemble has already enjoyed performances in Brussels, Triest, and on the final night of the EFG London Jazz Festival. Performing music from Gabriel Prokofiev’s most recent albums, alongside interpretations of works by Messiaen and Schnittke.
Fans of Classical, Electronic, Experimental, EDM, and Jazz sounds will find themselves right at home in the GBRL PRKV Ensemble’s sonic universe.

GABRIEL PROKOFIEV
Gabriel Prokofiev holds a unique position at the crossroads between classical and electronic music. His compositions instinctively combine his contrasting backgrounds in underground electronic music (he was a Grime & electro producer in the 00s) and contemporary classical (he has a Master’s in classical composition, and his music has been performed by over 50 different orchestras worldwide).

His music first gained international recognition when his genre-defying Concerto for Turntables No. 1 was performed at the BBC Proms in the Royal Albert Hall in 2011, a work that has gone on to become one of the most performed 21st-century contemporary concertos.

As well as composing nine orchestral concertos, he has composed many works for string and live electronics (which he performs live on stage) and has performed throughout Europe and America.
