Goblin Band emerged from a series of sessions by the same name, held at the Hobgoblin Music shop in central London. These gatherings were organised by a group of young queer folk, obsessive friends, and shop employees—all united by a desire to carve their own path into the world of folk music.
From these roots grew a band of multi-instrumentalists deeply grounded in the folk traditions of Britain. Their approach is shaped by a leftist perspective that explores folk’s connections to the histories of the working class, capitalism, and colonialism.
Blending harmony singing with fiddle, squeezebox, hurdy-gurdy, recorders, and more, Goblin Band offer a charismatic, alternative take on English traditional culture—one that’s both riotously joyful and profoundly sincere.
