The Rainbow witch is an interstellar traveller. She comes from a place that only has one colour, one sound and one smell. Only one way of doing things.
Part animal, part old woman, she is an outcast. She traverses the universe, collecting things she finds to create the perfect new home. She became a magpie. A walking explosion of colour, texture and sound. She is a habitat. She grows, she eats, she photosynthesises. She is slime mould, jackal, satellite. A collection of songs, stories, soft things, hard things, shiny things, living things and dead things. She would love to collect you, if you will come with her. She loves the forgotten places, the scrub of land behind a building site, railway sidings, abandoned farms where the insects rave and the plants tangle into a joyful scribble. The cloud of gasses in the far nebula, and a party of bacteria in the gut.
The Rainbow Witch celebrates the diversity of our planet and people. It is a joyful celebration of the unknowable, chaotic mess of plants, animals, people and things we call home. The micro and the macro, and how we need both. How we ARE both. It calls on us to notice and protect what’s around us, and see the tiny hidden living worlds on our doorsteps and in our bodies.
