Shambala

Shambala is founded on principles of community, creativity & climate action.

With everyone’s help, we’ve won tonnes of awards for sustainability in events. As valued members of our community, please follow these guidelines on site.

Food Guidelines

We save hundreds of tonnes of CO2 each year through these directives:

We are fiercely independent, and so encourage folks to avoid big, monopolising, multi-national brands. Just 10 companies own most of the world’s food.

Supporting local, waste-free, independent produce is a great form of resistance.

Meat

We took meat off the menu in 2016, to help us save hundreds of tonnes of CO2 and protect our land, air and water. Please join us in avoiding animal products over the Shamabla weekend. It’s an incredible way to help us slow damage to the environment.

Milk

All Shambala partners from Crew Catering to Traders have replaced cow’s milk with oat. See why we’ve Gone Off Cow’s Milk.

A local family-run oat farm called Wild & Furrow 6 miles from site, deliver fresh oat milk in reusable bottles at £1.75/litre. Please make an order for your team by the week before the show by contacting Miles: miles@wildandfurrow.com / 07896 929 666.

Eggs

To avoid pollution and animal cruelty, all Shambala teams and caterers get truly-free-range-eggs from Clipston Farm just 3 miles up the road! To order eggs for your crew, please contact: Anne on 07709 411 262 / annessen@hotmail.com.

Plastic

Bottles & Mugs

We cut single-use plastics in 2013 and sell none on site. So please bring your own water bottle, and coffee cup or mug!

Serveware

Most serveware contains a thin plastic, or bio-plastic grease-proof filming. Both make it really difficult to recycle. Please only bring “bagasse”, pure plant-pulp serveware and FSC wood cutlery. Bio-Pak is a great, ethical supplier.

Crew Coaches

Did you know we offer subsidised travel for Crew. Currently only available from London and Bristol. Check or website here.

Carbon Balancing

Balance your travel emissions with the most trusted event emission-balancing network > Onboard:Earth Travel Calculator.

We ensure 100% of public donate at ticket sale, but unfortunately only 4 of 7,000 Crew did this last year. It takes about 60 seconds, and costs £1-£3. Please try making this an annual habit if you can!

Waste

We are struggling to reduce waste across site.

Your help really changes things, like it would in any town or city! Please grab green recycling and grey general waste bags. A compost caddy can be collected from Production for your food waste too. Please empty these into Food Waste bins.

Please radio Sustainability or Greenbox anytime for spare equipment.

THANK YOU FOR BEING PART OF THE JOURNEY! x
